August 28, 2013 Rosie Pre-surgery Examination

Rosie went to City of Angels Critical Care today for her pre-surgery examination.

After Tiny Tim passed, I received quite a few emails from people worrying about Rosie’s chance of surviving this surgery. Because I know that everything was done for him and his poor family still lost him, l am also incredibly nervous. Thankfully the vet is choosing to proceed with caution, and we were there for a couple of hours while they did an ultrasound, blood work and xrays.

I’ve attached the detailed list of what they did to our girlie today so you know we’ve left no stone unturned.

Her heart and her lungs sound strong enough to undergo anesthesia. The swelling in her neck is at the low point of its cycle so there should not be too much pressure on her trachea. The right side of poor Rosie’s throat is black and blue – they needed to save her veins for the surgery – they took blood from her neck.

I have to drop her off at 7:00 a.m. tomorrow so they can start her drips etc. They will call me at 9:00 a.m. to let me know what time the surgery will start and they will call me as soon as it’s over and she is awake. I’ll know at that point what time I can see her.

Am I still nervous? Absolutely. I am worried about her emotional health (she was thrilled to see me after being there for just a few hours), her physical health, the extra expenses, how quickly she will heal…all the things I should be worried about. However, I know in my heart, I have done all I can to ensure a good outcome. It’s out of my hands at this point!

I’ll post a picture when I drop her off in the morning to give everyone a face to focus on for the day!!! Keep the prayers and meditations coming!

Peace,
Cinnamon
