Bringing home Scrat from Marley’s Mutts

Scrat and CinnamonSaturday, we had our reunion of the Woodland Hills Hoarder dogs and their families. It was wonderful to see so much love and so much passion for animals in one room. It was also amazing to see how we have built a positive community from the tragedy of hoarding and inbreeding those dogs suffered. I would have given anything to have walked in there holding Rosie but…

Today I brought home Scrat from Marley’s Mutts. She is a tiny bundle of love. She has a pretty serious growth on her chest that is probably cancerous…as I posted earlier today, she and the other two beautiful souls Marley’s Mutts (https://www.facebook.com/MarleysMuttsDogRescue) rescued will need support. Their plight is precisely why I didn’t close down this page when Rosie passed…helping them and the others like them are her legacy. I have to tell you, Rosie would have loved Zach from Marley’s! He’s her kind of guy!

While Scrat may turn out to be my education partner, Monet is definitely going to be the one who keeps me on my toes. She is a challenge and I am exploring new ways of helping her understand and navigate the world.

As I sat down to write this post, thoughts were filling my head the way they used to when Rosie supervised my typing. There will never be another Rosie, there will never be a tiny body with a soul and spirit that limitless. Searching for peace that I’ll never find in another pair of bright blue eyes will only bring more pain. Helping Scrat through her medical issues AND helping Monet through her emotional/behavioral demons will fill my time as well as keep Rosie’s memory alive – that’s what I need to do and eventually peace will find me.
xxoo,
